Finding and sharing food sources in your city

Lemon Ice Bowl

This is a fun way to serve a chilled dessert like fruit salad or ice cream. The bowl is made of ice and will slowly melt – but it looks fabulous and is worth the effort.

You will need 2 bowls, one smaller than the other. Fill the larger bowl with water then place the second bowl inside the first on the water and weigh it down until the water is about 1cm wide (to provide a thick ice wall when frozen). Then thickly slice some lemons and slide down into the water around the whole bowl. You could also add mint leaves for extra colour. Place into freezer and leave until fully frozen. When ready to use, dip the outer bowl into hot water to loosen frozen bowl, and put some hot water into the top smaller bowl to remove. The Lemon Ice Bowl is then ready to use.

"Hi Caroline,
This is such a lovely idea to put to use all the produce and food that might be getting wasted. One only has to look around at trees laden with fruit, with no signs of them being picked, to know the waste. Thanks for taking the initiative and doing this, we need to spread the word and get more people to join the sharing."
